AI dubbing in practice: what it can (and can’t) do – and when to call in the experts

Webinář: AI dabing v praxi

Artificial intelligence is increasingly transforming fields once reserved for professionals, including dubbing and voice-over. Today, you can hear video content that sounds remarkably natural, even though the voice wasn’t recorded by a human, but generated by technology. But what’s really behind these polished results? And more importantly – does AI dubbing make sense for your projects?

In our webinar “AI Dubbing in Practice”, co-hosted with Lenka Lidinská from our AV team, we explored how AI can transform dubbing workflows.

And now, thanks to that same team, you can watch the session in English—yes, they used AI to localize the Czech original! This is a real showcase of what our AV experts can deliver.

In this article, you’ll find a quick recap, including practical insights and answers to the most common client questions.

Not a magic wand, but a tool with real potential

One of the biggest myths we wanted to address is that AI dubbing is a “click-and-done” solution. Yes, some tools can quickly convert text into digital speech, but the result often lacks nuance, consistency, and clarity.

During the webinar, we walked through a real-world workflow step by step, including:

  • transcript cleanup and preparation of source text
  • translation with cultural and contextual adaptation
  • voice selection (including cloning the original speaker if needed)
  • adjustments to emotions, pace and timing, and alignment with video

We use professional-grade tools, primarily the Dubformer platform, which offers far more control and quality than standard consumer options.

The questions clients ask us – and the honest answers

When we talk with clients, certain questions come up time and again. They’re specific, practical, and often right on target. Here are the ones we hear most – with answers that might help you too:

How natural does the output sound?

With the right setup and human supervision, very natural. AI voices can now handle emotional tone, pacing, and emphasis but a trained proof-listener is still essential to ensure the result flows naturally and matches both the language and video timing.

Can you choose a specific voice or tone?

Yes – including cloning a specific speaker’s voice (like a CEO). All voice cloning is done with proper legal consent, of course.

Can we handle AI dubbing in-house?

It depends on the scope. For repetitive internal content (like training videos), in-house work can make sense but for multilingual, high-stakes, or client-facing content, it’s often more effective to work with a partner. What matters most: linguistic quality, time saved, and clean workflow.

What about accents or less common languages?

Options are expanding fast. The key is a solid source recording and careful post-production, which our AV team handles in-house.

How much does it cost?

AI dubbing is typically around half the price of traditional dubbing – with much faster turnaround. There’s no need to book a studio, actors, or directors. Once ready, production can begin almost immediately.

When does AI dubbing make the most sense?

It’s especially useful for companies that produce video content regularly: training, onboarding, product explainers, internal communication, or social media. It’s a fast, cost-effective way to localise content into multiple languages without sacrificing clarity or tone.

We often hear concerns that “AI will replace voice actors.” The reality is different.
AI dubbing expands the possibilities – it makes localisation accessible even in cases where budget constraints would otherwise prevent it, and it allows the creation of entirely new types of content. In many cases, both approaches can work side by side.

Want to hear it in action?

If you’re curious about how AI dubbing really sounds, you can now watch the full webinar in English, prepared with help from the same AV team that works on client projects.

If you’re interested in seeing how AI dubbing handles your own content, we’re currently offering a complimentary sample: a one-minute dubbed version created from any video you send us, included with your first order of 4 minutes or more.

We support English, Czech, and Slovak. Need a different language? We frequently work with German, French, Spanish, and Italian, and can support others such as Polish or Portuguese upon request. It’s a great way to test the technology in a real-world scenario. Just send us your material, and we’ll select a suitable excerpt and generate the dubbed version for you.

This offer is valid until 31 August 2025.
